Before You Buy
A recent update in Windows 10 causes this error to appear. To fix this, you must update the stick on a Windows 7 or 8 computer. Once upated, it will run and update on Windows 10 computers.
The Phone Recovery Stick can recover deleted text messages (SMS/MMS), contacts, notes, & calendar entries from the phone. It can also recover deleted photos/images, MP3, videos, and documents from the SD card as well as deleted data from apps such as Chrome, Facebook, Facebook Messenger, TextFree, TextPlus, Pinger, and Vkontakte. Data can be recovered that has not been overwritten yet. If a part of recovered data was overwritten, its complete recovery will not be possible. There is no set time deleted data can be recovered from.
It depends on the degree of damage to a device and several other factors. In order to be able to recover data, it must meet the following criteria:
  1. The phone must be able to turn on
  2. The device cannot be locked with a passcode
  3. The device settings must be set to allow unknown sources and be in USB debugging mode
  4. For deleted data recovery from devices running Android 5 or higher, the device must be rooted>
The Phone Recovery Stick works with any device running Android 1.x, 2.x, 4.0, 4.1, 4.2, 4.3, 4.4, 5.0, 5.1, 6.0, 6.0.1, 7.0, 7.1, 8.0, 8.1 (please note that devices running Android 5 and higher must be rooted before data recovery is possible and you must have the device password for devices running Android 4.2 and above).

Certain devices running My KNOX cannot be rooted in a manner that allows for deleted data recovery. If you device runs KNOX, deleted data cannot be recovered unless KNOX is uninstalled.
There are several options for rooting your Android. We recommend KingoRoot. You can also find Youtube videos that will walk you through the process.

We also have our own video tutorial here:

If you are receiving an error about a corrupted cabinet file or are unable to extract the drivers during installation, please download the drivers pack from here and install it: PHone Recovery Stick Drivers Pack
The easiest way to update your stick is to open the program, click on the Tools menu, and then click Check for Updates. If you receive an error, you can use the offline updater. Below is a tutorial showing how to use the offline updater:

If you are unable to download the data from your device, there are several things we can try:

Make sure your device is in Debugging Mode and allows Unknown Resources.
Try a different cable and a different USB port on your computer.
Make sure you have installed the Phone Recovery Stick Drivers Pack when you first run the Phone Recovery Stick.

If none of these things work, it may be necessary for you to download the latest drivers from the manufacturer's website.
